Civil society wants a more ambitious Eastern Partnership

1407

The Eastern Partnership (EaP) activities must be more ambitious than the provisions of the Association Agreement with the EU. This is one of the conclusions of the first workshop on the achievements of the 20 deliverables established for 2020 by the EaP countries. The workshop was dedicated to the energy efficiency, environment and climate change priorities and was organized by the Technical Assistance CSO development in Moldova in partnership with the National Platform of the EaP Civil Society Forum.

“These deliverables must support the Association Agreement provisions, even be more ambitious. For example, we have new laws regarding the environment, but they are not applied. We should work on this. In our recommendations to the EU for the next period of collaboration within Eastern Partnership we need to be more vocal about our needs of environmental infrastructure: for waste management, water management, modern environmental equipment, etc.”, said Ina Coșeru chairman of the National Environment Center and EaP Civil Society Forum Steering Committee co-chair.

Another 4 workshops will be organized to debate Moldova’s results and overdue from the perspective of civil society and of the government regarding 11 deliverables out of the 20 deliverables established for 2020 under the Eastern Partnership.

”In the end we will produce a cumulative report that will be presented to the European Union. The report will include the visions of the civil society and that of the government on Moldova’s achievements regarding the obligations assumed in 2017 by the Eastern Partnership countries”, added Galina Rizova the project team leader of Technical Assistance to support the development of Civil Society Organizations in Moldova.
